Be It enacted by Ilia Sennto mid House of Representatives nf the United Slates of Amer ica in Congress amenilileil, That the Washing ton and Georgetown rnilrond cnmpnnjr ihiill have tlie right to extend their horse railway on ay publio highway In the (iomity of Wushiiig. ton, commencing at the present terminus of either of their road, extending north from Seventh and Fourteenth streets, and from the Capitol square to Mnrylnnd Avenue i and ex tending north from the eaitern exlrcmity of that avenue, fint having obtained the consent of tbe levy court therefor ; and may charge ad ditional fare of five ecnts lor every three miles on each branch o extended, fur each nml ev .ery passenger conveyed upon any road con struoted in aid county of Washington, outsiilu of the limit of the cities of Washington and Georgetown: Provided, That nothing herein contained shall lie construed so aa to prevent congress from regulating Ihu fare on cither of said roads, or altering or amending the. original charter of said company, or this amendment thereto, according to the provisions nf said orig inal charter.
