YHtes departed Thursday for his cottage by the sea, at Cannon Beach, where his family has lieen for several weeks. Thomson and family returned Thursday even ing from an extended visit with their folks In northern California. Mr. Thomson says they visited numerous places of Interest, from th'J warm des ert to the cool hills, and that several sections of that state were very de Hghtful, especially In the foothills, but that the Interior, a part of some of the valley districts, were almost unls'arablv hot. Mr. Lawson wns met by a delegation from the Hood River Commercial Club nnd tendered an Invitation to be the guest of honor at a banquet to given him. He thanked the dub for the courtesy, but refused to accept the Invitation, saying that he desired to spend the time here In absolute quiet. Mr. Lawson Is accompanied by his youngest daughter, Miss Jean Law son, and sou Henry McCall, and they will make a trip to the foot of Mount Hood In the Upper Valley before leaving.
