The bronze metal sign attached to a metal pole rec- ognizes the Ghadar Party, which met in May 1913 at the former site of the Finn- ish Socialist Hall. Driven by Sikhs, Hindus and Mus- lims along the west coast, the anti-colonialist party worked toward India’s independence from Britain. Police received a report Friday morning that the marker, located at Maritime Memorial Park, was stolen. It had not been returned as of this morning. After an initial report of a physical dis- turbance in a white Nissan, police arrived to allegedly fi nd a loaded methamphet- amine pipe. Assault • At 11:18 p.m. Saturday, Gretchen Jeanne Thomas, 47, of Portland, was arrested by the Astoria Police Depart- ment on the 200 block of W. Marine Drive and charged with fourth-degree assault. The alleged victim had scratches to his face follow- ing an apparent domestic dispute. ON THE RECORD DUII • At 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Alisha N. Melton, 28, of Bat- tle G round, Washington, was arrested by the Astoria Police Department on W. Marine Drive near the Astoria Bridge and charged with driving under the infl uence of intoxi- cants.
