The Daily Astorian Two Clatsop Community College Talent Search stu- dents, Knappa High School seniors Devin Vandergriff and Angeleen Somoza, have won the Oregon state Hora- tio Alger Scholarship. The scholarship offers $10,000 over four years of college; $2,000 each year for the first three years, and $4,000 for the fourth year. Both young women plan on enter- ing college in the fall, but are still waiting for financial aid award letters to see how much each college could cost them. “Without Talent Search, I wouldn’t have been able to get the same opportunities — to check out different col- leges and learn about schol- arships,” Vandergriff said. “Talent Search has opened up many options for my future, and I hope more students can take advantage of it, too,” Somoza said. Both seniors have been very active in Talent Search throughout their time in high school.
