Anchor Ave., is holding a Vacation Bible School, “Pets Unleashed Where Jesus Cares ‘Fur’ You,” from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, and from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Children will experi- ence a pet-inspired adventure they can see, hear and touch. Team building games, songs and multi-sensory adventures are just a few of the activi- ties that help the lessons low into real life. Submitted Photo For over 50 years the Scandinavian Workshop has existed to provide assistance to women learning handwork sewing techniques, such as knitting, embroidery, hardanger, crochet and quilting. The women also enjoy coffee time and socializing. The group originally started in the basement of Ella Simonsen’s home, and was organized by Ella and Nellie Norman. Fond memories exist of the time spent at Lenore Hauke’s float house on the John Day River. Presently the women meet at First Lutheran Church on Monday mornings at 10 a.m., and encourage anyone to join them. On Monday, at 10 a.m., the Scandinavian Workshop meets in the Fireside Room; at 5:30 p.m. the Sea Scouts meet. Groups meeting on Tuesday include Stewardship Sewing at 9:30 a.m., TOPS at 5:30 p.m., and Pure Life Alliance at 5:45 p.m. The Church Council meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Friendship Room.
