WILL BE BIG TIME Lisson, folk3, and we'll tell tou of something to which we woro tinned oil' t'other day There ain't many as what knows about it. and we mav be reveal intr State Secrets in divulging this, but we always did like to take a Chance. Anyhow, we were standing on the curb atone somewhere in at. .Johns one day last week, and n friend of ours savs to us. confidentially like: "Where you' iroin' to go on Sat urday evening. February Mth, inst?" You can see he was edu cated when he used that "inst." I consulted my date book and found that the aforesaid date was unoccupied, whereupon 1 proceeded to say, careless like, "Oh, 1 didn't hnve any particu lar nlaco to iro outside of going down to Portland." Then he looked around again careful, as if he didn't want any one to hear, and whon he had male sure that the ncighorhood was absent of strangern, ho told me that there was going to bo a big mob at a Valentino I'arty and Dance that was going to bo hdd in St. Clement's Hall on the par ticular date nforo mentioned. Well, air, my face lighted up so much Hint one not aciiuxinlud with my sedate manners arid hab its would havo taken an oath Ihut I had boon flomenhore in which the first stnto of pork sausage can't see ycry well. Hut boin' as what 1 don't I didn't. I at once became enthusiastic, or words to that effect, and decided that the commonwonllh should bucomu participator in my d'racovory without the individual who hnd spillod thu Limns knowing there of. My chnnce came when lie was called out of town on busi-(mention. Now, i am telling you ness. bo l am just passing tnc an about this so that you won't good news along and I trust that; forget to como, as evory last one all my friends will bo there en masse. That's French for host clothes. And I hopo that m emios will also be there, bet I want to show them some o new steps I learned when 1 wus on my vacation last summer in Alfafa Grove. Anyhow 1 know that we arc a iroin' to have one swell time. Just think, it wont cost anything to get in to the Hall. That's an inducement to to the richest and poorest even the Scotch amirociato the idea Thon thcro will bo pretty baskets with bts of swe feed in them, nronared by the nicost women in the country, and these will be raided on tho wheel so that ev oryone will havo a chance to get one. I here will no no blanks, as it is absolutely no confidence game, except that wu tako ovcry one into our confidenco on that night. Then whon all tho bns kets havo been rallied there wil bo lots else to eat and everyone will oat nnd thoro'II bo water also. Ami atler all that is un ished there'll bo a band that will mako all former musical concer- ta sound like the elTorts of a mouth organ in the claws of a man with asthma. Believe me, thoro'II bo Homo jnzzin' pulled off when our osnccia It so ected or chestra tears loose; there'll bo sounds of ovorythin' from a uk clolo to a pipo organ, or.,iVtirliz- cr. as the Htvlislies call it nowa days. Fveryono, young, and them that woro, can trip the light fantastic. I learned that word at College, without intorforirr with one anothor m feelings or feet. And there'll bo valontinas. too. livo onoa anyway. The same holds good for young ladies with their fiances, I guess that's the way to spelt it; it means one that's goin' to bo but isn't.
