Sunday is Ground Hog Day. Look out for the hog. Edward Ainsworth left for Portland Tuesday on business. Mrs. Campbell gave the seventh grade a practical talk this week. As Sunday was a very nice day, a number of girls went out walking. We had some sacred music on Mr. Hatt's phonograph on Sunday evening. Miss Irene Howard of Salem is filling the position of Assistant Clerk temporarily'.:-. : ' - Did you ever taste such good sand wiphes as they, had at the eighth grade party? Mr. Kirby, who coached our football team last season, paid Chemawa a visit Sunday. Mrs. Chalcraft is enjoying a visit from her friend, Miss Abbie Eells, of Tacoma, Washington. Stanley Pedro, an old student, has re turned to school and has entered the Junior Class. Mr. Ed.; Berisell and his son, Arthur, of Siletz, were here visiting Adella Pavne last week. V Pickering Chalcraft and Geo, Doherty pend .many pleasant hours after school hunting foi'sgame, birds, etc, Violet Berner and Be9sie. Chiloquin are practicing some very, nice duets on the piano. They will play, for the party to be given by the Seniors and Juniors February 14th. Fred Lewis went to Monmouth las , Saturday with the first basketball team and reports having had a fine time, A letter from Mrs. Brewer informs us that Gertrude is not well and they are anxious to get back to Chemawa again. Mr. Smith and Mr. Dei by are measur ing for a new electric wire line from the power holism to Mr. Henderson's store, Mrs. Bullardand her girls can he seen out walking these pleasant sunshiny days, and how the girls enjoy t h e s o walks. The stereopticon views of the magni ucent peaks of Oregon and Washington were very good on Monday night and. were enjoyed by our students. Miss Jennie H.1 Royer entered upon her duties as"teacher Monday morning and is very enthusiastic over her pupils, and change from office work to the ' school room. The eighth grade pupils thank Mr. Derby for fixing the electric lights in the auditorium. Harry Jones arranged the string of lights which added so much to the beautiful effect. Mr. Campbell left for . Montana n Saturday morning. He will get. pomo pupils for our .school. Mrs, Campbell accompanied him as far as Portland and returned to. Chemawa on Sunday mom ing.
