Mr. and M rs’ Slade became the parents of a 7 lb. 3 oz. son, Jason James, on May 25. He joins a sister, Toni, age five, and a brother, Val, age four. Loretta Miller and her cousin Rita Miller from Willamina are home after spending over a year in Sarasota, on the west coast of Florida. The girls went there m February 1972, and had an enjoyable ‘'tim e driving back home. While in Florida, Loret ta worked in a drapery shop and Rita in a department store. Grenfell Park was the site of the Sheridan Garden Club potluck picnic on Monday, May 4. New officers elected for the coming year are: president, Ruby Smith; vice-president, Cassie See- christ; 2nd vice-president, Ruth Jones; secretary, Frances Har rison and treasurer, Evelyn Eh- nes. A plant ,sale was planned for next fall. Miss Roberta Guttry is visiting her mother, Mrs. Robert Guttry for an indefinite time. Mrs. Frank Harter is home from the Good Samaritan hos pital in Portland. She had the misfortune of breaking several bones in her arm. Mrs. Adeline Bontrager and family will be moving to Stur- gess, Michigan as soon as her teaching duties are over for this year. Her daughter, Debbie, who just graduated from Western Mennonite will attend Goshen College at Goshen, Indiana this fall. Overnight guests of the Calvin Yoders on Saturday, June3, were Mrs. Robert Mishler and chil dren from Cave Junction and Mr. scene in and Mrs. Melvin Mishler from Navajoa, Sonora, Mexico'. The Mishlers are former Sheridan residents and are in missionary work in Mexico. Mrs, Robert Mishler was here to attend the graduation of their daughter, Sue, from Western Mennonite. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Belieu attended the wedding of her sis ter, Deanna Wade, to William Rommel at Vernon Presbyterian church in Portland on Friday evening. A reception followed at the bride’s home in Tigard. Out of town guests at a buffet supper at the Lester DeHart home on Friday night were Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Houston from Til lamook, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mc Rae and family from Astoria, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. DeHart and Mrs. Kempie Nance and fam ily from Vernonia, Mr. and Mrs. A. L. DeHart Jr., from Colum bia City, LeAnne DeHart from Monmouth and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Heckman from Carlton. They all attended the high school grad uation exercises where Larry DeHart was one of the gradu ating seniors. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Knutson, Emily, Trudie and Brandt return ed home Friday from New Lon don, Connecticut. They attended the commencement exercises of their son, Ensign Kenneth N. Knutson from the Coast Guard Academy, and his wedding on June 6. They also drove ac ross Massachusetts and New York to Syracuse for the Intern ational Racing Association Re gatta to watch Ensign Knutson participate in the final crew race in which he and his teammates got second place in the nation. •The Knutsons visited with the Arthur Anderson family in We thersfield, Conn., also. Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Knutson were roommates in college. While the Knutsons were back east, Uli Wilschko stayed with the Reverend and Mrs. Max WiRs - by Mrs. Karl Hummel Primrose Rebekah Lodge #184 met for its regular meeting on June 7 at 8:00 p.m. Vivian Pu- ett, president of the Rebekah Assembly paid her official vis it. The lodge hall was attractively decorated in the colors of the president, pink, white and tu r quoise. Her emblem, the mute swan, was represented by a large white net swan resting on a blue table, decorated with a water lily candle. She introduced three of her of ficers, June Bartow, Marshall,: Edith Littlejohn, Outside Guard ian, and Freda Thayer of the jewelry committee. The president’s theme for the year is “ rededication.” “ Pray er Perfect” is one of her songs and this was sung as part of the program, by Olive Watts. Initiation was held and Ruth Lee became a new member. She was presented a certificate by the president, Vivian Puett. This certificate will be given to new members by her, during her term. During a “ recess” ofthemeet- ing a comedy was presented by some of the members, “ A Mix ing Bowl.” Sister Vivian was asked to participate, this con cerned adding many good ingredi ents to the mixing bowl to make a “ good Rebekah” and of course it turned out to be she. This was fast paced action by fancy chefs, wearing curly mustaches and white chefs caps, running about, stirring and bumping much to the amusement of all. The meeting adjourned and the members were served delicious refreshments of cake and jello. Students aid library The Reverend and Mrs. Robert Wallace and family visited friends in Sheridan and were at the graduation exercises Friday night. He is a former pastor of the Sheridan, United Metho dist church. Baby boy born June 2 Mr. and Mrs. Richard Millikan, of 351 E. Main St., Willdmina, are the proud parents of a baby boy born June 2 at the Dallas hospital. , Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Skyberg, of 645 B St., Willamina and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Millikan of Santee, Cal ifornia. Mr. DeHart, Principal of Chapman Grade School, and several fifth graders help move books from the old library to the new Sheridan Public Library which opened for busirtess this last week. Knutson were united in marriage at a 2 p.m. ceremony on June 6 at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. .Max Yuchniuk of Oakdale, Con necticut and the groom’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Knut son of Sheridan, Oregon. The double ring ceremony was performed by Chaplain Brink of the Academy. Maid of honor was Judy O’ Connell, Oakdale, foster sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Charlotte Levy, Wethersfield, Connecticut; Linda Barstow, Hartford, Connecticut; and Emily Knutson, Sheridan, sister of the groom. Brandt Knutson served his bro ther as best man. The ushers were Ensign Robin Gutridge, San Francisco, Calif., Ensign Doug Hertz, Redding, Pennsylvania, Ensign Bill Plage, Clark, New Jersey. Honor Guard, sword bearers making the traditional sword arch with the ushers, were Ensign Tony Yamata, Honolulu, Hawaii; Ensign Merton Lawrence, Lawn side, New Jersey; and Ensign Fred Montoya, Los Vegas, New Mexico. The bride was given in m ar riage by her father. She de signed and created her gown of alencon lace, with a portrait neckline and an empire bodice piped in pale blue velvet ribbon decorated with tinyba applique roses, cathedral sleeves and illusion veil and train. A dinner dance followed at the Officer’s Club where the-newly weds were toasted by the best man. "Following a honeymoon trip a- cross country, the young couple will be at home in Coos Bay, Oregon where Ensign Knutson will serve on the Modoc, a search and rescue vessel.
