BROOKINGS—HARSOR P IL O T Mr. and Mrs. Mack Rhodes, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Craven, all of Bear Lake, California, spent the weekend in and around Brookings. This is their second trip here, and they enjoy it more each time. Dick Erb got his buck Wednes day morning just a few m i l e s north of Brookings, not far from the beach. The buck was a nice one, weighing in the neighborhood of 130 pounds. ********** 1 THINGS GROW IN BROOKINGS! Lillian Young, who lives nortl of Brookings about a m ile shows off a 32 pound banana squash growed on her property here. *********** STATE PARKS ARE READIED FOR WINTER Harris Beach and Azalea State p a r k s , under the direction o f Frank D. Stiles are being read ied for winter. Mr. Stiles said he is constantly being reminded of evidences of vandalism in the State Parks by young people that evidently have not had good fundamental train ing at home. He estim ates that forty to fifty dollars a month of the taxpayers money is used to work to correct the results of vandalism. Mr. Stiles and his helpers have plans to make the State P a r k s more beautiful and convenient for the local people as well as th e traveler. He comments that the local people and organizations do not use Azalea Park as much as they might for picnics and get-to gethers. Travelers, especially those from C anada, have made it known that they consider this area on. of the m ostdesirable ami beauti ful of any the State Parks in Ore gon. 1 CLASS PRESIDENT This is Shirley Hewitt, who was elected as class p r e s id e n t of the Brookings-Harbor S e n i o r C lass. Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Lindskoug i returned from Portland Tuesday evening. Mrs. Lindskoug w a s able to make the trip home after undergoing surgery a week ago at a Portland hospital. H ostesses were Lorraine Elds, Pat Widmer, and Charlotte Chap man. About 15 were present, and Mrs. Erb received acme lovely for the new arrival. NO MINTING! LEO LUCAS A rushing party was held Thurs day night at the home of Virginia Reeves, by the Beta lota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Guests for the evening were Carrol Mac Far- land, Ruth V a u g h n , Mary Lee Crook, Charlotte Crook, Betty Eagles and Dorothy H a r r o u a . G u e s t s w ere welcomed very cleverly by Alice Weeks, in the WANTED style of a sidewalk r e p o r t e r . Everyone enjoyed a lot of .aughs when a hilarious mock style show was presented by g o m e of the m em bers. Games were played by all. Hot spiced c i d e r and doughnuts were served by June Kendall, Elinor Smith and Pearl Dimmick. CAMERA CLUB TO MEET The Pleasure Picture Cameri club will meet Monday night for a regular meeting at the recrea tion room of the Bonn Motel.
