He reports that he lost track of a buck, what with all the shooting. Pilot Photo PORTER DUE Charles Porter, congressman from this district will speak at the Chetco Grange Hall on Friday evening, following a pot lu c k dinner. Porter, who has picked up quite a name for him self in the short time he has been in Congress will talk on the "Economy of Currj County". The meeting is open to the pub lic, and they are cordially in vited. They are asked to bring som ehotdish, or salad or dessert to the Pot-Luck, which will start at 5:30 p .m . Porter will arrive here Friday afternoon, with Virgil Clark pick ing him up in Gold Beach. It is expected that the meeting will break up at about 8 p .m . »*♦***♦»*♦» "LAFF-O-RAMA" SLATED HERE FRIDAY AND SATURDAY The Circus "Spectacular" to be shown in Brookings is a new con cept, a new approach for com- .munity entertainment. The dates had to be changed to Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 8 p . m . The show will be held in the Grade School gym, and is spon sored by the American Legion Chetco Post 138, for the benefit of the Legion Community Hall. There will be local entertain ment throughout. UONSPLAN KIDS PARTY The Brookings-Harbor Lion's Club are making plans now for their annual Hallowe'en party for the youngsters of the community. The party, which will begin as usual with a parade, will begin as usual in front of the Pilot office and the kids will march to the high school. The big night is slated for Thursday, October 31st, and the kids are to form at 7 p .m . There will be entertainment for the young'uns, judging of c o s tumes, refreshments for all and a sawdust scram ble. In years past this has drawn out about 400 youngsters. ATHLETIC NIGHT ON AT SCHOOL In case you athletes who are Just wondering if you are over the hump are interested, there is a men's Activity Night on at the high school auditorium each Monday night from 7 p .m . until 9 p .m . A variety of sports, and other activities await the eager would be athlete. UPPER CHETCO P .T .A . HOLDING RECEPTION The Upper Chetco P .T .A is holding a reception in the form of a pot luck dinner, on Saturdaj evening, October 19, at 7 p .m . Each family is asked to bring at least two dishes--on e hot, and also their own service. A short business meeting will follow the dinner. ROCKET IS VIEWED THURSDAY MORNING Marien Chapman of the Pilot staff, her husband Dale, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Marvick, who are visiting the Chapmans all took a look at the Russian Rocket her« at 5:01 Thursday morning. The rocket was seen almost straight up, moving across the sky towards the s-east it was brighter than most stars, but could not be mistaken for a star.
