Mayor Brimm sacrificed a 8rb“at J oc time and money on the job that he was elected for py a majority of the Brookings voters. He served in that capacity for no other reason that the thought of service to a community. In serving Brookings Brimm did what he thought was right, anti moved forward towards his mam goal of mak ing a better city out of Brookings. He did that with t e utmost sincerity of his convictions. Brimm felt, and didn’t hesitate to say, that we as a newspaper have been too quick to criticize the may< r and the council. We can honestly say, in our own de fense, that we t<x) were looking out for the best interest oc the people f the community. We, obviously approach, the problems from a different w ay -b u t nobody can say that our goals aren t precisely the same. One, we who have sat through council meeting nieht after night until midnight or 1 a.m. realize the problems that a mayor and a council face-without com pensation—and especially so in a new city. e t îere 0 .. feel obligated to express to Mayor Brimm, outgoing conn cilmen Clive Manley, and Jim Yelton, our deepest app’c eiation for their efforts, made in our behalf. Secondly, we want to wish the new Mayor. Fell Cainp- and Councilmen Earl Brener, Ben Phette-plaee, 1 e. hell Hanks, and Lee Hein our very best wishes for the cv „ext two years.
