Brookings residents. Mayor Brimm sacrificed a 8rb“at J
oc time and money on the job that he was elected for py
a majority of the Brookings voters. He served in that
capacity for no other reason that the thought of service
to a community.
In serving Brookings Brimm did what he thought was
right, anti moved forward towards his mam goal of mak­
ing a better city out of Brookings. He did that with t e
utmost sincerity of his convictions.
Brimm felt, and didn’t hesitate to say, that we as a
newspaper have been too quick to criticize the may< r
and the council. We can honestly say, in our own de­
fense, that we t<x) were looking out for the best interest
oc the people f the community. We, obviously approach,
the problems from a different w ay -b u t nobody can say
that our goals aren t precisely the same.
TKe Pilot is bound bv moral obligation to attempt t,.
go a step further—as will any newspaper worth its salt—

tages of a given situation.

now in office, and we wish to stress two very important
points. One, we who have sat through council meeting

problems that a mayor and a council face-without com­

cilmen Clive Manley, and Jim Yelton, our deepest app’c
