He was able to leave the hospital this weekend during the visit of Mil dred Byrne, who went south on business the last of the week. Word has been received by the Pilot that Fred Newman, a form er resident, passed away in P o rt land on Friday, Oct. 24th in the Ray Young, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Young, left for San Deigo last Tuesday w here he en tered the navy. He was com plete ly recovered from a recent opera tion, w hich he feared might post pone his acceptance by the navy. A friend Lloyd •R ed” George, who also enlisted lately is ex pected to be called this week. A small farewell dinner, at Castle Rock included several friends of the boys, before Ray left for the naval base.
