P4GE SIX LANGLOIS NEWS By Nancy Moore A lower outage Friday night, that incapacitated the milking machines, caused a good many sore muscles Saturday morning. The Youth Dance was held Fri- day night at the Grange hall, was started with music provided by a hand-powered phonograph and light provided by kerosene lamps. Just as everyone was be ginning to enjoy the semi-dark ness, the electricity came on. Hugh Shields of Gold Beach was in Langlois on Business Fri day afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jim White are building a house on their Floras Lake property. It is now near completion. Mrs. Jean Hale went to Coos Bay several times during the past week. A meeting is to be held Tues- day at the high school <o discuss the pros and cons of sending the high school students to Bandon next year. The (‘lection to de cide the matter will be held on Thursday, June 22. Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Alger were Coos Bay visitors, Friday. Mrs. Mary Langlois was sur prised last week when she was visited by a friend with whom she went to school, when both were six years old. Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Gray of Ophir visited at the Frank Moore home Thursday. Sixes Grange will hold its reg ular social meeting at the hall Saturday, June 24 at 8 p. m. Miss Dorothy Newton, HDA, was in Langlois Saturday on home extension business. She was on her way to 4-H summer school i at Corvallis. Mrs. Eva Donaldson is leaving I some time this week to attend Summer school at Southern Ore-I gon College of Education at Ash land, in preparation for teaching the first grade next year. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Clark, son Charles, and Dick Everest, | letumed home Saturday evening! after attending state Grange at Ontario. A meeting was held Wednes day evening at the Gnnge hall for purpose of organizing Grange dramatics club. Only a few peo ple attended and it is hoped that anyone else who is interest- id in dramatics will attend the! next’meeting June 21 at Gerald; Quinn’s. Plans were made to j give a skit while the group is waiting for more material. LOCAL NEWS dale, Wash. Tuesday afternoon Jack Jag gers brought the Pilot the first Croft lily blooms of the year. They were fully developed, but according to Jack were the only two out that day. He predicts that warm weather will bring the blossoms out in time for the liy parade. Dorcas Society Sends Relief To Flood Victims ■ Dorcas Society of the Seventh- Day Adventist church last week packed 266 garments and 26 pairs of shoes to send to the flood-stricken people of British Clumbia. Spokesman for the so ciety asked the Pilot to extend thanks to all those who contrib uted, and asked others who may have items at home to give, since the society is still making up packages.
