VTERTAINMENT Affla magine a place where there is no TV , no stereo, no electricity and no l ittle l eague. Most o f the year the ground is covered with snow. Imagine eating beaver stew, saving your favorite part, the tail, for last. Imagine a place where the people have never seen a movie and don't even know what baseball is. Pic ture traveling by dogsled instead o f in a car. George Attla lives in this harsh, snow-covered wilderness above the Arctic Circle until he is nine years old. ITien, because he has tuberculosis, (ieorge is sent to a hospital in Sitka, Alaska a world completely different from the one he knows. He learns the ways o f modem city life during the seven years he spends in the city while I being treated for his illness. He goes to movies, loves baseball, and discovers a world much larger than the one o f his childhood. When George’s tuberculosis is cured, he returns to his parents'home, not as a boy but as a young man. He quickly becomes bored with the peace and tranquility o f his childhood lifestyle.
