is covered with snow. Imagine eating
beaver stew, saving your favorite part,
the tail, for last. Imagine a place where
the people have never seen a movie and
don't even know what baseball is. Pic­

George Attla lives in this harsh,
snow-covered wilderness above the
Arctic Circle until he is nine years old.

When George’s tuberculosis is cured,
he returns to his parents'home, not as a
boy but as a young man. He quickly
becomes bored with the peace and
tranquility o f his childhood lifestyle.
