Nov 27. in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Hom e V au lt interm ent fo llo w e d at F ir h ill M e m o ria l C e m e te ry in Sandy M r Allgeier died Nov 27 in Sandy He was 99 years old Born G eo rg e D a n ie l Allgeier in Carrollton. Mo . Feb 19. 1883. he was raised in Missouri and at 18 years old began to work his way west Upon arriving in Oregon he worked as a bridge builder for the railroad He married I j u r a I Dugger in 1913 The fam ily moved to the Sandy area in 1920 and cleared land to raise cattle and berries He later work ed as a millwright, along with farming and driving the school bus At the age of 90 he continued driving tractor on the farm His wife preceded him in death in 1976 Survivors include his children. Ella Lang of Cot tage Grove. Irene A rm strong, Edward Allgeier and Moritz Allgeier. all of Sandy, and Arthur Allgeier of Gresham; nine grand children. and 12 g rea t grandchildren The fa m ily suggests memorials be made in his name to St Jude’s Home in Sandy Martha Krebs M a rth a A K rebs of Wemme died Nov 26 in Sandy She was 81 years old Bom M artha A Fenske in Seaside on Oct 13, 1901. she married George Krebs in 1920 in Sandy They made their home in this area After her husband's death in 1926. she remained in the area and later m a r ried Rudolph Krebs They lived in the Sandy area until 1951 when they moved to Wemme Mr Krebs preceded her in death in 1974 She is survived by two daughters. Esther Lymp and Evelyn Trum bly. both of Wemme; a sister, Ruth Schiewe of Redmond, two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren Funeral services were held Monday in the chapel of Sandy Funeral Home Interm ent was at F irh ill M e m o ria l C e m e te ry in Sandy Hill Watts, right, governor of the Northwest District of Kiwanis International, was the central figure at a recent dinner meeting in Sandy. The special event, held at the Presbyterian Church, was hosted by the Sandy Kiwanis (Tub. Frank Happold. lieutenant governor of Division 6«. welcomed Watts. T w o days a w eek Assessor closes office The Clackamas County Assessor's Office will be closed to the public two days a week G e o rg e M a lin . C la c k a m a s C o u n ty assessor and tax collector, announced at a meeting with the Board of County Commissioners last week that it will be necessary to close, to the public, the of fice for two days each week if the functions of the department that are re quired by law are to be per formed He explained that the workload is as great as fo rm erly, but with the reduction of 23 staff per sons at the beginning of the 1982 83 budget year, the timely processing of tax payments is not possible for the office to still provide the normal services to the public “ Many alternatives were examined, and the decision to lock the door and not answer phones on Tuesday and Thursday was reluc tantly approved.’’ Malin said Currently, the restricted budgets have resulted in sim ilar decisions in the Clackamas County Clerk's office which closes to the public for a portion of each day There are several other counties including Coos.
