POST— 7 Senior Center News: Costume party on tap for Senior Center A Halloween party with e n te rta in m e n t and refreshments will be held at the Sandy Senior Center tomorrow with festivities kicking off at 12:30 p m P articip an ts are en couraged to attend in costume Prizes will be awarded to those sporting the most creative get ups An orientation program, which will be presented by staff persons for new center members, will be held following the party A refresher workshop for anyone previously involved in the spring genealogy class will be held at the center on Monday. Nov 1, from 10 a m to noon Under the guidance of Maxine Taylor, persons w ill gain insights into various methocs of tracing individual's ancestry New members may also join the group at M o n day's meeting Preparations for the San dy Golden Age Club's Dec 3 bazaar are underway Seniors who wish to con tribute to the effort may do so by amending weekly arts and crafts sessions at the center every Thursday after the noon meal Materials will be will be furnished by the center for the handicraft projects A volunteer attorney will be on hand to consult with persons 60 years of age and older who require legal ad vice next Thursday, Nov 4, from 9 a m to noon. Because all three proposals are for low- to moderate-income, sub- sidized family units, the ci ty will participate in the FHA review process The first proposal is for a 35-unit complex, south of McCormick D rive near Loundree and Wolf Drives T h a t is proposed by Westgate Homes of North Bend The second proposal is for a 24-unit complex, sub mitted by Michael McKeel of Gresham That would be built just north of Tupper Area youngsters are tak ing steps this week to brighten the Thanksgiving celebrations for some deserving senior citizens and families. The Sandy Pathfinder Club will be going door to door tomorrow, Oct 29, in the Sandy area gathering canned goods fo r Thanksgiving baskets W ednesday e v e n in g , some 60 Pathfinders from Hood View Seventh-day Adventist Church in Boring began their drive in the Boring-Damascus area, distributing grocery sacks for contributions which will be picked up this Saturday Every year Pathfinder Clubs go out at Halloween and, rather than asking for a treat for themselves, they ask for food to help others The food collected locally is taken to the Adventist Community Service Center where it is used to prepare food baskets for deserving families in the community. Each box contains a com plete meal for the family. People in the area served by Hood View Pathfinder Club may wish to leave their sack on the doorstep if they plan to be out Satur day. It will be picked up by a club member If a person is not con tacted by a member of one of the Pathfinder Clubs and they would like to con tribute to the food drive, they may contact the local church. In Sandy, the number is 668-6144 In the Boring-Damascus area, the numbers are 663-5611 or 658-6777. Pathfinder Clubs are sponsored by the Seventh- day Adventist Church.
