Under federal law, up to 75 per cent of the coat of any of the projects could be paid for by a grant from the Environmental Protection Agency, from page one lifts and the sixth under construction, allowing a capacity of 9.800 visitors and 9.250 skiers One of the new lifts would serve the White River area, which is now outside the Meadow* permit area F> The last alternative is the "fu ll speed ahead" plan, representing full develop ment of the Meadows area to accomodate 12,000 visitors. 11,350 skiers and 3.800 overnight guests The lloodland Chamber of Commerce supports this plan M t Hood Meadow* manager Clay Simon submitted a 32 page statement to the Forest Service last week in which he urged approval of a combination of alternatives EandF "The demand for ski space already exceeds the supply on Mt. Hood," Simon said. "The only way to make the best use of the available ski area is to encourage skiing during the week This requires a variety of lodgings,” Although the cut-off date for public input was originally set for Monday, Heisler said that as long as they are working on the input summary they w ill accept additional letter* M ail should be addressed the M t Hood National Forest. 2440 S.E. 195th Ave..
