Fielding Is the se cre tary of the Hood Land Citizens Comm ittee which was formed last spring to study the Interim zoning which affects the c o r rid o r of Highway 26 In the Hood Land area which term inates on Dec. 16. The conference, sponsored by the Bureau of Munciplal Re search and Service, reviewed some of the experiences in Wisconsin which has had the longest experience with county zoning and the relation afcoun- ty zoning to federal resource policies. The Parade of Chapters l is t ing Is based on a chapter’ s Increases; Tax Rates Told Valuation of the City of Sandy increased $96,363 from the total assessed value of $1,780,420 in 1966-67 to 1967-68’ s $ 1 ,- 876,783 according to figures released by the county asses sor’ s office. This can be compared with the 1967-68 total assessed value of such incorporated cities as Estacada at $1,193,160; M o la l la , $2,472,105; and Canby, $ 4 ,- 687,138. (Post Photo) » Rook did not go into great d etail on the Council, spending much of his speaking tim e at the meeting talking of the problems of communication between law enforcement agencies and the cltlzen ery. He said he did not intent to anticipate what p ro jects the new group would un dertake once his office had helped establish the machinery of the Council. In re fe rrin g to the com munications gap between law enforcement officers and the public, Rook stated, " I n my Judgment they are d riftin g f a r ther and fa rth e r a p art,” " I t ’ s not,” he added, " th a t people don’ t appreciate law enforce ment o ffic ers , but that they don’ t look at them as a s e rv ant.” Rook also noted that many communities aren ’ t working closely with law e n fo rc e m e n t agencies and he hopes that his advisory council w ill be a step in the d irectio n of bringing law enforcement and the public closer by bridging the com munications gap. Rook, speaking at the Sbndy | Klwanis Club meeting, said that plans are w ell underway on the Council and that a number cf Clackamas County citizens have already been selected to p a r ticipate. The dinner w ill get underway with a 7 pun. banquet and w ill be followed by the orientation. Area Scouts Get Active Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout packs dusted off the w e l come mat this week to get ready for the annual School Night fo r Scouting program Wednesday evening. Sept. 20. Boys interested in joining and th eir parents were invited to lea rn about Scouting at the 7:30 p.m . program s, scheduled for North and West Gresham schools, and Lynch, Rockwood, Reynolds, Sandy, Corbett and Boring grade schools. Scouts put on th eir uniforms Wednesday morning for school w ear as a rem inder to their classm ates. There are more than 2600 boys in Cub, Boy Scout and Ex p lo re r units in the Thunderbird d is tric t, which takes in the area from Lynch up to M t. Hood.
