much of his speaking tim e at the
meeting talking of the problems
of communication between law
enforcement agencies and the
cltlzen ery. He said he did not
intent to anticipate what p ro
jects the new group would un
dertake once his office had
helped establish the machinery
of the Council.

public, Rook stated, " I n my
Judgment they are d riftin g f a r
ther and fa rth e r a p art,” " I t ’ s
not,” he added, " th a t people
don’ t appreciate law enforce
ment o ffic ers , but that they
don’ t look at them as a s e rv
ant.”
Rook also noted that many
communities
aren ’ t working
closely with law e n fo rc e m e n t
agencies and he hopes that his
advisory council w ill be a step
in the d irectio n of bringing
law enforcement and the public
closer by bridging the com
munications gap. Rook added
that he was pleased with the
Interest already shown in his
advisory councils,
