O u t po o r # a n p M o r e ! 'ft £ n J The Fishing Line- MLKJIHGFEDCBA by Dave Curphey I wonder if it was Captain Ahab who said “The big ones always get away”. If he was, he couldn’t of been any closer to the truth. very unfair to the vast majority of fishermen who like to “put a little meat in the freezer.” Also, it would have a devastating affect on the local economy in the Upper Rogue area. Fisherman ’s Prayer Last week my son, Josh and nephew Jimmy found a honey hole at Medco Pond while out in a canoe. They caught and released around thirty trout and a bunch of bass. Josh “claims ” to have hooked into an older brood trout, about thirty inches long. He had him on for about 5 minutes and as it went under the canoe, his line snapped. Hey! He does have a witness. I ask you to write or call these people below and express your opinions on this matter. I am sure going to do this! i pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. Senator Ron Wyden Federal Court House 310 West Sixth Street Medford, OR. 97501 (541) 858-5122 And when it comes to that last cast, I then most humbly pray, Fishing from shore at Medco Pond has been slow for trout, but a lot of bluegills for the little fishermen. Govenor John Kitzhaber State Capital Salem, Or. 97310-0370 (503) 378-3111 When in the Lords great landing net and peacefully asleep Willow Lake has been fair for trout and I hear the catfish are biting good. Along the shore by the campground is good for cat fishing at night with a lantern. Be sure to bring lots of nightcrawlers and hang on tight, some cats are near twenty inches. Representative Susan Morgan 730 N.E. Leon Drive Myrtle Creek, OR. 97457 (541) 863-6212 That in His Mercy I be judged Along with this proposal, there are several Lost Creek Lake has been real good for trout others, and I will post them on the bulletin and some nice bass are being caught. Last board at the Butte Falls Grocery Store. Your week I caught several bass, one weighed in at support in keeping our local fisheries open is greatly needed. 5 pounds, the other 3 pounds. greatly The Upper Rogue had a real good run of Chinook salmon, but the bite has been real slow lately. As of July 1 5th the count is up to nearly twenty-nine thousand over Gold Ray Dam. Also, the summer run steelhead are getting plentiful with over thirteen thousand already in the Upper Rogue. Well folks, that was the lighter side of my report, now the dark side. Several months ago, a proposal was made to restrict the Upper Rogue from Gold Ray Dam to Cole Rivers Fish Hatchery to fly fishing only, from September 1st to January 31st. I feel this is Big Enough To Keep! So, until next time, good luck on your fishing. ZYXWVUTSRQPONMLKJIHGFEDCBA P.S.
