femTOW to Tw to Tennis Pro Coming To Town! Firehouse News and Views by- Chief Hugh Simpson A big thanks to all who assisted in the saving of our elementary school on July 20th, when the roof caught fire during roofing operations. We only had three firefighters available initially, and we had our hands full. Police Chief Mel Ray, Public Works Director Tom Hayes, the roofers, people who volunteered to see that hose lines were free of kinks, those who brought fans so we could clear smoke from the building, etc. helped a lot. Also, the U.S. Forest Service brought their engine in case we needed water or tools, and so did Oregon Department of Forestry. Thanks to firefighters Tim Shaw, Patti Shafer, Jeff Gorman, Darren Kinyon, Cassie Wolfe, - and Fire Districts #4 and #3, who responded to our mutual aid request, and to all the employers who allow our volunteer firefighters to leave their jobs in order to save lives and property in our community. . I i I also wish to compliment all the citizens who helped us by watching the firefighting operations from a safe distance, thereby enabling us to do our job without undue worry that someone might be injured. Let’s use this incident as a reminder that we all must be ever vigilant when it comes to fires and fire safety, and do our best to see that we are fire safe. If you wish to help more by becoming a volunteer firefighter, please come to a meeting on a Tuesday evening at 6:30 ' and talk with us to see if you qualify. If you do, you may join us and become part of our I MLKJIHGFEDCBA team. Our community responded well to this emergency. We worked together and succeeded in saving a very important asset for our town.
