The Fishing Line-

I wonder if it was Captain Ahab who said “The
big ones always get away”. If he was, he
couldn’t of been any closer to the truth.
very unfair to the vast majority of fishermen
who like to “put a little meat in the freezer.”
Also, it would have a devastating affect on the
local economy in the Upper Rogue area.
Fisherman ’s Prayer
Last week my son, Josh and nephew Jimmy
found a honey hole at Medco Pond while out
in a canoe. They caught and released around
thirty trout and a bunch of bass. Josh
“claims ” to have hooked into an older brood
trout, about thirty inches long. He had him on
for about 5 minutes and as it went under the
canoe, his line snapped. Hey! He does have a
witness.
I ask you to write or call these people below
and express your opinions on this matter. I
am sure going to do this!

Willow Lake has been fair for trout and I hear
the catfish are biting good. Along the shore
by the campground is good for cat fishing at
night with a lantern. Be sure to bring lots of
nightcrawlers and hang on tight, some cats
are near twenty inches.

The Upper Rogue had a real good run of
Chinook salmon, but the bite has been real
slow lately. As of July 1 5th the count is up to
nearly twenty-nine thousand over Gold Ray
Dam. Also, the summer run steelhead are
getting plentiful with over thirteen thousand
already in the Upper Rogue.
Well folks, that was the lighter side of my
report, now the dark side. Several months
ago, a proposal was made to restrict the
Upper Rogue from Gold Ray Dam to Cole
Rivers Fish Hatchery to fly fishing only, from
September 1st to January 31st. I feel this is
