c o n s i d e r e d th e o f f i c i a l b e g in n i n g o f th e w o m a n 's
s u f f r a g e m o v e m e n t , i t i s i m p o r t a n t to r e i t e r a t e
t h a t th e g o a l o f th e e a r l y w o m a n 's r i g h t s m o v e ­
m e n t w a s n o t l i m i t e d to th e d e m a n d f o r s u f ­
f r a g e . In f a c t , th e s u f f r a g e r e s o l u t i o n w a s i n ­

E a s t a n d M i d w e s t . T h e 1 8 5 0 c o n v e n t i o n in
S a l e m , O h io :

A s th e w o m a n 's m o v e m e n t g a i n e d in s t r e n g t h ,
