This application must be filed with the Election Board by 4 p.m. on Dec. 24, 2(X)8. I also understand that if for any reason I decide to withdraw my application for Siletz Tribal Council, I must withdraw in writing by Dec. 29, 2008. Box 549, Siletz, OR 97380-0549. Election News Candidate’s Statements: The Election Board now will be responsible for accepting and approving all candidate’s statements. Statements will be limited to 750 words and not contain any personal attacks. One photo (optional) can be accepted with statements. Candidate’s Fair: This year, the Candidate’s Fair will be held Dec. 14, 2008. The fair was moved from January to December to encourage more participation from the General Council. Hopefully, the weather will be mild enough to draw Tribal members from outside the Siletz area to attend. This year, the Candidate’s Fair will take place before the deadline to file for candidacy. The deadline to file for candidacy will be Dec. 24 by 4 p.m. In order to participate in the Candidate’s Fair, you must be declared and certified by the Election Board prior to Dec. 12 at 4 p.m. Tribal members who plan to wait until the last day to declare will not be allowed to participate in the Candidate’s Fair. The Candidate’s Fair will be from noon to 4 p.m. (noon to 1 p.m. - Meet and Greet). It will be mediated by the Election Board chairman. Mise. Changes: The Election Board no longer will provide mailing labels for candidates. All candidates will need to request and purchase their own from the En rollment Department. Timeline/Schedule Dec. 12 (4 p.m.) - Deadline to file and be certified for candidacy if you plan to par ticipate in the Candidate’s Fair Dec. 14 - Candidate’s Fair, Siletz Tribal Community Center, Noon - 4 p.m. Dec. 24 - Deadline to file for candidacy for Tribal Council, 4 p.m. Dec. 24 - Deadline to submit candidate’s statement and photo, 4 p.m. Dec. 26 - Official list of candidates posted Dec. 29 - Deadline to withdraw candidacy and not be included in voter’s pamphlet, 4 p.m. Voter’s Pamphlet and Statement If you would like your candidate’s statement and photo to appear in the voter’s pamphlet, please submit your statement and recent 3x5 photograph of yourself along with your application. Deadline for statements and photos is Dec. 24, 2(X)8, at 4 p.m. Statements and photos will appear in the voter’s pamphlet. Photos will be included on the ballot. I Come to Dance, Drum Classes I Pow-wow dance, drumming and (some) regalia-making support classes | are now held on the first and last Wednesday of each month at the Siletz Tribal Community Center from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Anthony “Fish” Martinez is the instructor. This is a family event and all youth must be accompanied by an adult.
