CHINOOK WINDS CASINO RESORT Laugh it Up in July at Nation’s Sexiest Casino Allan Havey, Jodi Borello and Ron Morey will kick off the Fourth of July weekend with side-stitching comedy. Enjoy a three-day weekend at the coast and include laughter in your itinerary on July 4-6 at Comedy on the Coast at Chinook Winds. Allan Havey started his standup career in New York City in 1981. He made his national television debut Nov. 13, 1986, on Late Night with David Letter- man. Over the years he has appeared on television, acting in Seinfeld. The Louie Show, and Curb your Enthusiasm, and as a blonde-haired DJ on Tiper. In November 1989, Havey was hand-picked by HBO to be a host of The Comedy Channel, which later be came Comedy Central. He created, hosted and produced Night After Night with Allan Havey. Being born and raised in New Or leans. Jodi Borrello’s comedy takes on a unique perspective from a one-of-a- kind environment. The source of her comedy all comes down to one thing - her family. From having managed a family business to being a mother, she carries part of each family member to the stage and brings them to life in a clever, witty and honest manner. Borrello brings a never-ending smile and signature laugh that are in fectious with audiences. Her comedy Allan Havey material is featured alongside the best female comedians in the bestselling book She’s So Funny and the recently published book Squeaky Clean Comedy. A veteran of standup comedy, Ron Morey’s energetic show earned him a nomination to the list of the top five comics in the country by the Entertain ment Business Journal. His show includes characters, mu sic and impressions. In addition to com edy clubs, Morey has spent much of his time entertaining the troops for the USO in such places as Italy, Greece, Bahrain and Kuwait. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Laugh with Sinbad Sinbad, the uproarious comedian, will tell his real-life stories and poke fun at others at Chinook Winds on July 25-26. After touring America on a self proclaimed “Poverty Tour” (traveling on a Greyhound bus, changing in res taurant restrooms and working for meals), a stint on Star Search helped raise Sinbad’s profile. Although he never won. he was a finalist and appeared on the show seven times. This led him to his first profes Sin bad sional break on The New Red Foxx Show playing Foxx’s son. Bill Cosby also noticed Sinbad s talents and cast him on television’s A Different World, where he spent four years. Sinbad has hosted numerous TV specials, including It's Showtime at the Apollo. Sinbad: Brain Damaged and several other HBO specials. His first acting role was in Necessary Roughness. Parts in Coneheads and Meteor Man followed before his first starring role in Houseguest. His other films include First Kid, Jingle All the Way, Homeward Bound // and The Cherokee Kid. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets range from $30 to $45. Smokin’ at the Ocean includes Cooking, Eating and Pig Races Nationally Ranked Professionals to Compete in Eating Contest This year's Smokin' at the Ocean, Barbecue & Brew Fest is making a tri umphant return to Chinook Winds on July 11-13. Sanctioned by the Western BBQ Association, Smokin' at the Ocean is Oregon’s barbecue state championship with more than $1 ().()()() in cash and prizes up for grabs. Live music from the Water Broth ers, Ty Curtis Band and more will take place in the Brew Fest beer garden. The return of the nationally sanctioned national rib eating contest rounds out a fun-packed family weekend. Regional competitive eaters and fans of this sport can heave a sigh of relief. The nationally sanctioned Com petitive Rib Eating Championship, with a top prize of $1,500, is back. And like last year, locals can earn a chance to battle the experts by competing in the regional amateur eating contest. Fifteen amateur spots are available; competitors must sign up by 5 p.m. on event day with a $20 entry fee. Positions vary from week to week, however, these positions are frequently recruited ones and ap plications are accepted and screened as openings occur: servers, cashiers, There are those who believe they could eat enough barbecue to win some of the more than $2,500 in cash prizes available in the sanctioned rib eating competition. The IFOCE is al ways looking for the next competitive eating sensation and encourages every one interested to participate in the Amateur Rib Eating Competition. Anyone can enter the amateur rib eating contest on July 12 at 6 p.m. The $20 entry fee is donated to a local char ity and includes a commemorative shirt for the participant. The top four final ists will be invited to return for the championship to compete for a spot in IFOCE barbecue consumption history and cash prizes. Don’t miss the media challenge July 12 at 3 p.m. where Chinook Winds will donate to the chosen char ity of the top three winners (ls,-$300, 2nd-$2OO, 3rd-$IOO). Proceeds from Smokin' at the Ocean will be donated to the Taft High School Culinary Class. There is no charge for admission to attend this family event. There is an entry fee to participate in all of the competitions.
