If you have any questions, please call Tami Miner at 1-800-922-1399 or 541-444-2532. by Mark Pullam On June 26 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the combined programs of 477-Self- Sufficiency and Healthy Family, Healthy Child Project had a Family Wellness Night for clients and family members at Harmony Lanes in Toledo. Kids and adults alike put on bowl ing shoes and grabbed rented bowling balls, enjoying a fun evening that pro moted healthy family activities. There were 22 participants in the event and everyone had positive words to say about the night. Food and beverages were provided by a generous donation from Subway of Newport and Pepsi Cola Bottling Com pany. We would like to thank Harmony Lanes, Subway and Pepsi for making the Family Wellness Night a success. At the end of the evening, the par ticipants made suggestions for future Family Wellness activities. CERT Training Class to Start The Siletz Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) latest training classes will begin in September at the Siletz Fire Hall. The CERT program’s goals are to promote emergency preparedness, de velop skills to respond to and cope with the aftermath of a disaster, and develop neighborhood self-sufficiency before, during and after a natural or manmade disaster. Topics taught and completed by the participants included disaster pre paredness, disaster fire suppression, di saster medical operations, light search and rescue, terrorism, disaster psychol ogy, CERT organization and the final drill. CERT graduates now have the knowledge, skills and abilities to not only help their family be better pre pared for emergencies, but to assist their neighborhood in becoming bet ter prepared to take action when Siletz or tribal housing is threatened by a major emergency or disaster. CERT members will maintain and refine their skills by participating in ex ercises and activities. They can attend supplemental training opportunities offered by the Siletz Fire, Lincoln County Emergency Services Department and the Toledo Police Department.
