TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS 13th Annual Run to the Rogue 13th Annual Run to the Rogue Sept. 13, 14, 15, 2007 Longest Relay Run in Oregon Registration Form Pre-Run Orientation & Dinner: Tribal Community Center. Government Hill. Siletz, Ore, Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, 5:30 p.m. Starting Point: Tribal Community Center. Government Hill. Siletz. Ore, Thurs You are invited to join Siletz Tribal members on Sept. 13, 14 & 15, 2007, for Run to the Rogue 13. This event is a relay run/walk to celebrate the continuing return of the Siletz Tribe to their ancestral lands in the Rogue River country. The run begins in Siletz and follows along Highway l()l to Oak Flat near the Rogue River. Everyone can take part and contribute to the Run to the Rogue. You can participate in the following ways: • day, Sept. 13, 2007, at 8:30 a.m. Ending Point: Oak Flat near the Rogue River, Sep. 15, 2007. Each year this group is able to get the main group of runners off to a good start. This group is a very important part in making the run a success. Other runners/walkers can join the group as they travel south on 101 and take part as long as they are able. People can join us in the evening and participate in the relay for as long as possible before returning home. Those who help in this way are very much appreciated by runners who continue through the night. Supporters/participants can run or walk to represent a tribal elder or tribal member who is not able to run or walk. The run begins on Sept. 13, 8:30 a.m., at the Siletz Tribal Community Center and will end on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, near Agness, Ore., with a salmon dinner at Cougar Lane. For those who make a commitment to join us, please remember to bring a sleeping bag, towels, good shoes, plenty of socks and personal care items. Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner provided. Camp sites: Thursday night, Sept. 13, at Jessie M. Honeyman Campground, sites 103, 105, 106, 107, 108 & 1 10; south of Florence, Ore. Friday night, Sept. 14. at the group area in Humbug State Park, near Humbug Mountain, south of Port Orford, Ore. Maps are provided. I will not participate unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of Run to the Rogue staff relative to my ability to safely complete the event on foot. I assume all risks associated with other participants, the effects of weather, including chilling conditions, high heat and humidity, conditions of the road, all risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I release the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians and all sponsors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising from my participation in this event. Run to the Rogue Youth Agreement and Parent Permission It is our hope that this program will create an opportunity for tribal youth to learn about their tribe, increase their knowledge on various issues facing youth today, enhance youth leadership skills and provide an opportunity for our youth to come together as a tribal community. All youth will be accompanied by a parent, guardian or designated chaperone. Box 549. Siletz, OR 97380. • Youth will demonstrate respect for themselves, eiders, others and Mother Earth. Abusive language is not allowed. Youth will not bring or use tobacco, alcohol or drugs while participating in this program activity or trip. Youth will not leave the event or facility unless permission has been granted by chaperone. Youth will abide by curfew times and decisions made by staff or chaperones to ensure safety. All youth will be accompanied by a parent, guardian or designated chaperone.
