NOTICES Tribal Eligibility Expands for Student Financial Assistance Recent action of the Oregon Stu dent Assistance Commission (OSAC), administrator of the Oregon Opportu nity Grant, OSAC Private Scholarships, and other student financial assistance programs, expands the definition of “resident of Oregon.” Now included are students who are (1) enrolled members of federally rec ognized tribes of Oregon or (2) who are enrolled members of federally rec ognized American Indian tribes that had traditional and customary tribal boundaries that included parts of the state of Oregon or that had ceded or reserved lands within the state ot Oregon, regardless of their state of residence. The new rule also specifies that a student seeking to be deemed eligible under the provisions of this rule must follow procedures prescribed by the Oregon Student Assistance Commis sion, including submitting a photocopy of a document confirming the student's tribal membership. Marine Discovery Tours is accepting applications from fourth- through eighth-grade classrooms for its Coastal Field Trip scholarships. The scholarship money covers the boat program cost for all students and teachers; 30 schol arships are available. The two-hour “Fisheries Field Trip" is held on the Dis covery, the official cruise boat of the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Students learn about commercial trawl fishing techniques and sea life food chains. Programs are available March-June and September- October 2007.
