Sue Eatherly and Debby Fawver received the award for volunteering to paint a mural in a room sponsored by the Siletz Tribe at Samaritan North Lin- colh Hospital in Lincoln City, Ore. In August 2006. the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund awarded $5.000 to the hospital foundation for a room makeover. The charitable fund was the first group to step up to donate money for - and complete - a room makeover at SNLH. Following the August 2006 chari table distribution. Sue and Debby ap proached the tribe with an offer to paint a mural in the room that was represen tative of the tribe. Euchre Creek Falls, a traditional tribal fishing site mat still is in use today, was selected for the mural. “Sue and Debby provided a price less donation to both the tribe and Sa maritan North Lincoln Hospital by painting a gorgeous and true represen tation of Euchre Creek Falls,” said Delores Pigsley, tribal chairman, as she helped present the award at the dinner. The mural became the main focus of the room makeover and all other elements were designed to complement the mural. The quilts and valances also incorporate the tribe’s basketweave design. Sue and Debby always seem to be involved in something in Siletz, whether it’s an after-school art program with the Siletz. Valley Partnership, city wide and Highway 229 cleanups, a Christmas tree ornament-making party for youth, or installing and maintain ing the large flower baskets along Gaither St :n Siletz. Thank you. Sue and Debby, for al! you do for the citizens of Siletz.
