CHINOOK WINDS CASINO RESORT PASSAGES Smokin’ at the Ocean Smolders as Pacific NW’s Biggest BBQ Contest Nationally Ranked Professional Eaters Compete in Rib-Eating Contest This year’s Smokin' at the Ocean Barbecue & Brew Fest makes a trium phant return to Chinook Winds Casino Resort on July 14-16. Sanctioned by the Western BBQ Association, Smokin’ at the Ocean is Oregon's barbecue state championship with more than $10,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Chestnut is currently the No. 2 com petitive eater in the world. The IFOCE is always looking for the next competitive eating sensation and encourages everyone interested to participate in the Amateur Rib Eating Competition. Anyone can enter the amateur rib eating contest on July 15 at 6 p.m. There is a $20 entry fee (donated to local char ity) to participate. The top four finalists will be invited back for the championship. A special competition for members of the media will take place at 3 p.m. that same day. Chinook Winds Casino Resort will donate to the chosen char ity of the top three winners. Proceeds from Smokin' at the Ocean will be donated to the Taft High School Culinary Class.
