TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS Portland Group Visits Air Museum Apply for Over Income Grants for Your Home Portland area families and youth join in a field trip to the Evergreen Air Museum in McMinnville, Ore., in April. The highlight of the trip was. natu rally, the spectacular Spruce Goose, though kids and adults alike thoroughly enjoyed meeting actual pilots, seeing the planes they piloted years ago. and also working with computers that simulate landings and takeoffs. Participants included Katie and Gerard Billmyer; John Killibrew and his mom. Sande Steele; the McClintock family; Haley Kirk and her mom, Calina Kirk; Gary Butler Jr.; Nicole Mortenson; and Tina Baldimero and her granddaughter, Antoinette. The Over-Income Rehabilitation Construction program funds over-income families with a $5.000 grant for con struction rehabilitation on the primary residence they own or families who have possessor rights to their home. Rehabilitation refers to repairs or renovations to the home, but does not include appliances, saunas, hot tubs, swimming pools, etc. Over-Income refers to tribal members whose income exceeds the income lim its set by the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA). Applications, including The Siletz Tribal Council estab lished a Student Incentive Program to reward student achievements as they graduate from the following levels: proof of income, enrollment, and mortgage, must be submitted to the Housing office by July 31, 2006, at 4:30 p.m. • • • • • • • Head Start/Pre-School Kindergarten Elementary School Middle School High School Adult Vocational Training Higher Education Students can submit a copy of their graduation certificate, name, and mail ing address to the education specialist for their area. Siletz NARCH Research Project Starts First Phase by Claire Wood NARCH Data Coordinator The Siletz NARCH research project survey has started. We mailed our con sent forms to 1.000 randomly selected adult tribal members on April 17 and have received a good number back requesting surveys. If you have not received your sur vey yet and you did request one. please contact me. If you have received your survey, please fill it out and return it to me by June 16, 2006. If your survey is received by June 16, you will receive a T-shirt designed specifically for the NARCH project. Please help the Siletz Tribe by par ticipating and returning your completed survey as soon as possible.
