TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS TYEE Program Applications Due Mark Your Calendar for Culture Camp July 18-20, 2006 - Siletz, Oregon Culture Camp is scheduled for July 18-20, 2006, at the Siletz Tribal Com munity Center and pow-wow grounds. Culture Camp is for Siletz Tribal mem bers only. The camp is intended for tribal families and children under age 10 must be chaperoned at all times by an adult. weaving, drum making, shell necklace making, bead working, moccasin mak ing, shawl making, bear grass braid ing, language classes, traditional foods preparation, nature walks and exercise challenge, flintknapping, storytelling, and recreational activities. Activities Camping Camp planning meetings are under way. Suggested activities are basket Overnight camping is available for families that live outside of the Siletz area only! Overnight campers should bring Deadline is June 23, 2006 tents, sleeping bags, toiletries, etc. Siletz Tribal youth age 14-17 are invited to apply for the 2006 Tribal Youth Educational Employment (TYEE) Program. TYEE is an opportunity for youth to gain practical work experience over the summer. The program will begin July 10 and continue until Aug. 12. Youth participants will complete 180 hours of paid work experience during the program. To qualify: You must be a Siletz Tribal member age 14-17 who resides within the 11-county service area and will return to school in the fall of 2006. To apply: You will receive an ap plication in the mail. If not, call or stop by the tribal office in your area. The contact person for each office is listed below. Bring verification to document the following: Campers can arrive on July 17, however, meals are not provided on this day.
