NOTICES Siletz Charitable Fund Distributes $158,000 The Siletz Tribal Charitable Con May 12, 2006 - Distribution of $158,041.14 tribution Fund made another round of distributions May 12 and the seven- member advisory board has distributed more than $2.1 million since its incep tion in 2001. Twenty-one organizations shared $158,04 1.14 in contributions when checks were presented at Chinook Education - $78,200 LCSD, Indian Education Program - staff for 7-week summer program to help American Indian students recover high school credits Lincoln Co. 4-H Leaders Assoc. - livestock pens, awards, and supplies for hands-on events Siletz Valley School - operational costs for the 2005-2006 school year Toledo, OR $10,700 Newport, OR Siletz, OR $5,000 $62,500 Newport, OR $1,700 Newport, OR $2,820 Lincoln City, OR $1,000 Portland, OR $1,000 Newport, OR $3,000 Lincoln City, OR $5,000 Portland, OR $5,000 Winds Casino Resort. This included $15,000 for the Samaritan Pacific Com munities Hospital Foundation to pur chase an AutoPulse CPR system; $10,700 for the LCSD Indian Educa tion Credit Recovery Program for a Environment & Natural Resources - $4,520 Mid-Coast Watershed Council - scholarships, materials, and ropes course training at “Blast to the Past” culture and natural resource camp Mid-Coast Watershed Council - equipment, supplies, and transportation for Natural Resource Youth Crew seven-week summer course; and $10,000 for the Yachats Rural Fire Protection District to help build a fire substation. The Siletz Tribe is proud of its con tributions through employment, mon etary donations, and cooperative mea sures to the Siletz community, Lincoln County, and the state of Oregon. The tribe has honored its tradition of shar ing within the community by distrib uting more than $4.3 million through the Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribu tion Fund and other tribal resources. Chinook Winds has donated more than $550,000 in cash and fund-rais ing items since it opened in 1995. The Health-$31,720 American Cancer Society, Relay For Life - sponsorship of Luminaria Ceremony at 2006 event Nat’l Indian Child Welfare Assoc. - Communications Outreach Project, including web site, direct mail, media, and appearances at tribal events Newport/Toledo Lions Club - exams and/or glasses and hearing aids for people in Newport, Toledo, Siletz, Eddyville, and south of Waldport North Lincoln Hospital Foundation - hospital room makeover at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital Oregon Community Warehouse - provide an additional 15 families per week with essential household furnishings Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital Foundation - purchase AutoPulse CPR system for Siletz Rural Fire Department SET Baseball Assoc. - batting helmets, umpire masks and gear, bats, balls, and help with upkeep of baseball fields St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen (OPEKWAN) - support for weekly soup kitchen Newport, OR Siletz, Eddyville, Toledo, OR Siletz, OR $15,000 $ 1,000 $720 casino also provides in-kind donations of convention space for various fund raisers as wpll as technical support, ad vertising, and manpower for many events. Eligibility for money from the Public Safety - $10,876 NW Regional ESD, Tillamook - purchase digital scale and hemocue hemoglobin analyzer for health screenings for kids Yachats Rural Fire Protection District - construction of a fire substation to house equipment Tillamook, OR The Arts - $3,498 Arcadia Elementary School - scholarships and art materials for after school art program Oregon Coast Children’s Theatre - community mural projects in Lincoln City and Newport Toledo, OR Yachats, OR $876 $ 10,000 Charitable Contribution Fund is limited to two categories: • Entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 1 1-county service area (Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, $998 Newport, OR $2,500 Siletz, OR $ 1,000 Newport, OR $2,500 Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) • Native American entities and activi ties located anywhere in the United States The next deadline to submit ap plications is Sept. 10, 2006.
