Butlers Finish Strong Season
Bobby Butler finished his wrestling
season with 38 wins. He wrestled at the
State Collegiate Championships and
Siletz Wrestlers Do Well at State

Our wrestlers did us proud this year.
Many of the kids traveled to tourna­
ments throughout Oregon, taking home
medals. They showed much dedication,
working hard at practices throughout the
season. We wrestled two styles, collegiate
and freestyle.
During collegiate, the kids ended the
year at the state tournament in Portland.
We had eight boys go to state - Bobby
Butler, Logan Butler, Chris Garza. De­
von Reed, Kai Skidmore, Frankie Rilatos,
Josh Rilatos, and San Poil Whitehead.
San Poil took third place and Josh
took second place. Bobby won three of
five matches and missed placing by only
one point.
Logan, Chris, and Kai also won some
tough matches. All these boys wrestled
tough matches and did their best. Not all
of our wrestlers went to state, but we al­
ways had a full gym here at home and they
always came to practice ready to wrestle.
After the collegiate we started free­
style. Some of our wrestlers wanted a
break after collegiate, so we had fewer
kids in this season.
Freestyle wrestlers were Bobby,
Isaac, Logan, and Ronald Butler Jr.; Josh;
Kai; and Loy and David Marthaller.
The kids wrestled well at tourna­
ments, working their way toward the
freestyle state tournament in Roseburg.
Four of our boys attended state and three
of them placed.
Bobby took fourth place, Kai took
fifth place, and Josh again brought home
second place. Logan Butler didn't place,
but wrestled some very tough matches.
We are proud of each and every wres­
tler that came out this year. Wrestling is a
tough sport and these kids showed dedi­
cation to learning and to being the best
wrestler they can be.
We would like to thank the families
of all the kids for their support, Siletz
Valley School, Van Peters and Joe Bailey
for use of the gym for workouts, Mona

Fisher for helping us with the van, and
Coach Teacher Tony for setting up a pro­
fessional wrestling match fund-raiser at
the school.
Thank you also to Chinook Winds for
the funding to allow us to purchase our
own wrestling mats.
We will be having more fund-raisers
throughout the year for uniforms and gear.

Siletz wrestling coaches deserve a big
thanks for all the hard work they do with
our boys!
They willingly take time out of their
busy lives to have a wrestling club here
in Siletz so our boys don't have to go out
of town to wrestle.
They are very dedicated coaches who
not only take the time and patience to teach
our boys how to wrestle well, but also teach
them to have respect and good sportsman­
ship for their team and their opponents?
Thank you Coach Reggie. Coach Lee,
and Coach Tony for all you do for our
boys! You guys are the best!

Isaac Butler finished a long season
of folk and freestyle in the Pee Wee Divi­
sion. He was the youngest (but not the
smallest) wrestler from Siletz. You are
amazing, Ike-Man!
You both make your family proud.
