CHINOOK WINDS CASINO RESORT Joe Cocker Cocker Brings Unmistakable Voice to Chinook Winds B.B. King King Brings the Blues to the Beach B.B. King, the five-time Grammy award winner and undisputed “King of the Blues,” will perform at Chinook Winds Casino Resort on March 18-19. Since his first recordings in 1940, King has released more than 50 albums, many of which are considered blues classics. Over the years, he has had No. 1 R&B hits with Three O’ Clock Blues, and You Don’t Know Me. His classic songs like Payin ’ The Cost To Be The Boss, Caldonia, How Blue Can You Get, and Why I Sing The Blues are concert and fan staples. King was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984 and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Rock guitar-playing style is largely derived from King’s playing. His tech nique is complex, with delicate filigrees of single-string runs punctuated by loud chords, subtle vibratos, and “bent” notes. Tickets range from $30 to $60. Show time is 8 p.m. both nights. Cocker’s fame rose after the initial 1960s success of now classics like Joe Cocker! and Mad Dogs and English men. His reputation remains secure as one of rock's greatest song interpreters. Fans who have enjoyed Cocker’s powerful renditions of With A Little Help From My Friends, You Are So Beautiful, When The Night Comes, and Unchain My Heart will rejoice at his newest CD release, Heart and Soul. The album i, a diverse collection of classic songs, ranging from the Leiber/Stoller team to contemporary acts like R.E.M. and U2. Show time is 8 p.m. both nights. Tickets range from $20 to $40.
