TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Robert Kentta, Nita Smith, and Lucky Miles, direct descendants of John and Martha Adams, at the Adams family reunion Dub (Sgt. Dubber) Bellinger, Siletz Tribal elder, receives the Native Ameri can Medal of Valor for his service in Vietnam. The Northwest Indian Veter ans Association honored him Dec. 7 in Grand Ronde. Gene LaBonte is the chair and Dub's long-time acquaintance nicknamed "Hamburger”placed the medal on him. The CTGR NIVA-Honor Guard conference room was packed and most touching was everyone telling Dub, "I’m glad you made it home, ” after the ceremony. Among his numerous ribbons and Vietnam medals are three Bronze Stars with Cluster. Arlen Kentta presents a dear hoof cane to Roy Downey. Both are direct descendants of John and Martha Adams. The wood on the cane is from Minnesota. SVS Honors Students of the Month • ■ ■ L—. ............... Jean Hall Crosses Over by Martha Lockhart We are expressing our sympathy and love for the loss of our cousin and friend, Jean Hall of Pendleton, Ore. But, it is heaven’s gain. She is now with her beloved ones over there. The word says, “We are like the grass, which is here for a time and then gone.’’ She was such a blessing and lived her life by the good book. She shall always leave a void. We loved her and will never forget her love of doing so good by all. May we all learn another lesson. Love to all the family from Cousin Martha and all Adams family members. Siletz Tribal Business Corporation Siletz Valley School has announced the students of the month for Novem ber. On the first Monday of every month at our morning assembly, students in grades K-8 are recognized for atten dance, academic achievements, citizen ship, and positive behavior.
