TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS Congratulations, Graduates! Amy Nicole Brown Alicia Keene Mountain View HS Waldport HS by Mom, Matthew, Jessie, and Mattie I would like to announce the graduation of my daughter, Amy Nicole Brown, from Mountain View High School on June 17, 2004. Amy was awarded Senior of the Year for Physical Education. She played varsity soccer for Mountain View and they took district champs for 2004. by your most favorite cuz in the whole wide world, Trish Congratulations to Alicia Keene for graduating from Waldport High School in June 2004! I love you, Alicia, and I am very proud of what you have accomplished. Keep up the good work. Jazmyn Metcalf Kindergarten Congratulations to Jazmyn Metcalf for completing her first year of schooling. She graduated from kindergarten on May 16, 2004. Jazmyn’s favorite colors are pink and red and she would like to be a school nurse when she grows up. Jazmyn earned all Ys (means child has mastered said skill) through the whole year! Way to go! Keep up the good work! Chief Chewescla, William Depoe Jr., speaks in Depoe Bay on Memorial Day about his great- grandfather, grandfather, and father. Stuart Whitehead Yakima Valley CC by Betty Whitehead and family I want to congratulate my son, Stuart Whitehead. He graduated from Yakima Valley Community College on June 10, 2004. He earned an associate’s degree of applied science in information tech nology, general. He also made the Dean’s List and Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. We are all very proud of you. Barragon Selected for Civil War Tour Eleven-year-old Jaime (pro nounced Heime) Bustos Barragon was selected at Chapman Middle School (in Portland, Ore.) as one of 22 students who had the great opportunity to fly to Washington, D.C., to tour Civil War and other historical sites and museums. Jaime is the son of Sonnita Martin, daughter of the late Tony Martin and daughter to Portland-area resident Laura Barney (Klamath), and great- grandson of Agnes Pilgrim. During the last two years, Jaime has volunteered a great deal of time and put much effort into working with a program called Odyssey, where he has been studying, acting, singing, touring, and Sonnita Martin and Jaime Bustos Barragon doing special programs and activities centered around the civil war. Because of his commitment to the Odyssey Program, his trip will be paid for. Congratulations, Jaime, and we hope you had a wonderful experience. August 2004 □ Siletz News □ 11
