The new addition to Chinook Winds became effective June 1. To reflect the transformation, the casino, convention center, and hotel now is known as Chinook Winds Casino Resort. Delores Pigsley, Siletz Tribal chair man, welcomed the new Chinook Winds Casino Resort name along with the hotel, pointing out that both changes aim toward the goals of the tribe and the casino. “As the area’s largest employer, the casino and tribe support the develop ment of a premier resort that attracts and invites tourists from around the region, as well as the country, to the fun, excitement of Chinook Winds and beauty of the Central Oregon Coast. The purchase of the hotel also helps to ensure the economic diversity of the Siletz Tribe, benefiting our self sufficient longevity,” she said. The progress of Chinook Winds Casino Resort includes Lincoln City residents as well. “All the employees of the hotel are welcome as members of the Chinook Winds staff. I encourage each of them to explore the benefits of working with The old Shilo Inn becomes ... us. We look forward to including them as part of the team,” added Delores. Looking toward Chinook Winds’ future, General Manager Jim Kikumoto talked about what’s to come. “The addition of the hotel to Chinook Winds is creating a great deal of excitement. Along with the name change, the purchase positions us to accomplish our vision of a true resort destination by allowing us to provide ... the new Chinook Winds Casino Resort. the amenities desired by our guests without increasing the amount of hotel rooms in Lincoln City.” The growth of the property Siletz New s Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians of Oregon P.O.
