They enjoyed teaching bracelet bead making (four directions bracelet) to other youth. Everyone had lots of fun learning, listening, and asking questions. Starting young and trying to keep healthy will help prevent serious illness from coming about in later years. I took great interest in the storytelling performed by tribal elder Esther Stutzman. She was so dramatic and forceful in telling her tales that I could clearly visualize everything. I also enjoyed helping the little ones (4 to 6 year olds) make the bracelets. They were very intense and fascinated with making these bracelets by themselves and seeing the completed ones. They immediately put them on and enjoyed wearing them. These little ones enjoyed frolicking about, jumping, playing bail, and just having such fun. Matt Williams and the other Siletz youth (Shantel Hostler, Kent Kaiser Jr., Lynetta Benedict, Richard Lafferty, and Danielle Clark) all participated in playing with these younger kids - what energy! I - and they - loved every minute of the workshop! Great job, Lisa Brown, for bringing the youth together and asking me to participate with them.
