E 7Ö .06 S523 v. 30 no. 3 Ma»* 17b 'LETZ NEWS hly publication by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians Vol. 30, No. 3, March 2002 2003 Siletz Tribe Donates $61,767 to Community Davis, John, Landis Re-elected to Council The Siletz Tribal Charitable Contribution Fund made another round of distributions on Feb. 1 at Chinook Winds Casino & Convention Center. Thirty-one organizations shared $61,767.62 in contributions. The seven-member advisory board will distribute a total of $349,000 by the end of 2002. Eligibility for funds is limited to two categories: Jessie Davis, Jane John, and Rosemary Landis were re-elected to the Tribal Council of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians in elections held Feb. 2. On Feb. 4, the Tribal Council elected Delores Pigsley to serve as chairman, Jessie Davis as vice chairman, Mary “Dolly” Fisher as secretary, and Jane John as treasurer. Jessie, from Keizer, Ore., was re elected with 362 votes; Jane, from Salem, received 294; and Rosemary, from Brightwood, Ore., received 272. Eleven candidates ran for the three open positions and the three who received the most votes were elected. Gerald Ben has announced his resignation from the Tribal Council, effective Feb. 10. He has been appointed deputy regional director of the BIA. Term of office is three years for each position on the nine-member council. The re-elected individuals will serve with Reggie Butler Sr. of Siletz and JoAnn Miller of Logsden, whose terms expire in 2003; and Lillie Butler of Siletz, Mary “Dolly” Fisher of Siletz, and Delores Pigsley of Salem, whose terms expire in 2004. • • Rosemary Landis (I), Jane John, and Jessie Davis take the oath of office. Entities and activities located in the Siletz Tribe’s 11-county service area (Lincoln, Tillamook, Linn, Lane, Benton, Polk, Yamhill, Marion, Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas counties) Native American entities and activities located anywhere in the United States Prior to establishing the Advisory Board in 2001, the Siletz Tribe distributed a percentage of gaming revenues through an ad-hoc committee that awarded $134,020 to various organizations throughout Oregon. 2002 Tribal Council officers: Jane John, treasurer (I); Delores Pigsley, chairman; Mary "Dolly” Fisher, secretary; and Jessie Davis, vice chairman.
