TRIBAL T» fiÖSRÄIOEWS Basketball Tournament a Success During spring break in March, the Siletz Tribe hosted teams from Muckleshoot, Suquamish, and Chiloquin at the Siletz Residents’ Organization Spring Basketball Tournament 2001. Participants ranged in age from grades four to 12. Congratulations to the following: 4-6 Grade Division 1st Place - Muckleshoot 2nd Place - Siletz Eagles; All-stars - Danny Elgin and Brandon Larrabee 3rd Place - Siletz Warriors; All-star - Monique Lane 7-9 Grade Division 1st Place - Muckleshoot 2nd Place - Suquamish 3rd Place - Chiloquin 10-12 Grade Division MVP - Marcus Butler All-star - Pam McDowall 1st Place - Siletz Nation - Birdie Wermy 2nd Place - Suquamish - Ray Pondelick, Tommy Cordero 3rd Place - Siletz - Maurice Knott A big thank you to the community who supported the kids. You were wonderful! The Residents’ Committee; Shannon and Clifford Case, tournament directors; Willie and Chuvonne Metcalf, referee directors; Ronell Welch and Lori Case, time/scorekeepers; LeiLani Cordova and Rick Leaton, concession coordinators; Sharon Edenfield and Doc, BBQ coordinators; Violet and Todd Moore, cleanup coordinators. Also, Toledo High School baseball team; Siletz women’s softball team; Charlie Butler, who announced the awards; and last but not least, Elouise Case, who coordinated the bake sale. If anyone has any cool recipes for the hot days ahead, please share them with USDA. —à- Siletz Tribal Police Chief Norm Counts (I) congratulates Officer Ken Real following Real’s graduation from the Basic Police Class in Monmouth, Ore. Real was among 35 individuals who graduated in March and one of three graduates from tribal police or public safety departments. He now patrols on the Siletz Reservation and in the city of Siletz.
