Thanks to their ingenuity and enthusiasm, nine families had a memorable Christmas and a large quantity of food was donated to the women’s shelter. Their spirit exemplified the true meaning of Christmas, “giving. ” Siletz Tribe Donates to Local Groups The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians has distributed $9,524 to Native American organizations, schools, and non-profit agencies The Siletz Tribal Charitable Ad Hoc Committee has completed a year of donations generated from the profits of Chinook Winds in 1998. The committee has given away a total of $ 134,020. An advisory board is being established to distribute profits from 1999 and thereafter. It will consist of one Siletz Tribal Council member, three Siletz Tribal members, two non-tribal members from Lincoln County, and one member of the general public from the tribe’s service area. Term of office is three years. Applications for funding will be available this spring.
