CTSI Position Openings (continued from page 7) JOB OPENING (Position Begins August 98) POSITION TITLE: Head Start Teacher (Seasonal-39 weeks) SALARY: $10.61 per hour SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Head Start Director LOCATION: Conf. Tribes of Siletz Indians, Portland and Siletz Minimum Requirements: BA, AA, or Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential in Early Childhood Education and one year experience in a structured early childhood education setting (Preschool, Head Start, Kindergarten, Daycare Center, etc.). Able to work effectively with low- income families. Able to use a positive approach in directing child behavior. Able to work cooperatively as a team member. Must possess a valid Oregon State driver's license and have use of a personal vehicle. Must have a safe driving record and be able to satisfy a criminal record check. Must have a valid First Aid Card/CPR or able to obtain it within 60 days of employment. Responsibilities: Plans and maintains a developmentally appropriate classroom environment as supported by daily lesson plans and culturally relevant activities. Works in a team setting with all other staff involved with the family, in assessing the needs of the family and child. Assists families in identifying needs and/or problems during home visits, gathers information, conducts problem solving and refers as appropriate. Develops an Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each child in partnership with the parent and implements IEP goals through classroom curriculum and regularly scheduled home visit activities. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date file on each child regarding activities and progress within the classroom and home including, developmental screening, behavioral anecdotes, observations, and evaluation records. Demonstrates to parents effective ways to guide young children through home visits and classroom modeling. Recruits parents as volunteers and actively supports activities. Supports the Head Start goals, objectives and performance standards. Must possess a valid Oregon State Commercial driver's license, Class B with passenger endorsement and have use of a personal vehicle. RESPON SIBILITIES: Assists in the following through of the daily educational plan within the classroom and plans activities. Assists in setting up and maintaining a developmentally-appropriate classroom environment including organization off space and material storage. Assists in setting up educational and/or social service related home’ visits with assigned families. Completes required documentation and follow up activities. Works in a team setting with other staff involved with families in assessing the needs of the family and child. Participates in Child Development Associates (CDA) program and/or other training activities. Implements a daily bus route and transports for program related activities. Responsible for behavior of children on the bus with particular attention to safety. Keeps assigned vehicle dean. Reports any acddents or malfunctions to the Head Start Director. Records gas slips. Responsible for recording and reporting of in-kind services. Supports the Head Start goals, objectives and performance standards. Other duties as assigned. Must possess an Adult, Infant & Child CPR/First Aid card. Must have basic typewriter and computer knowledge. Must be able to work some weekends and evenings. Must adhere to confidentiality of information and individuals as described in the CTSI manual and federal law. Must possess a valid driver's license and have use of a personal vehicle, and willing to travel extensively.
