Bloodmobile set Blood donations will be taken by the Red Cross Bloodmobile Wednesday, Feb. 16 in the Community Center at Clackamas Community College from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. "I'm hoping we'll reach our goal of 100 units," said Bonnie Hartley, CCC nurse. The last campus blood drive netted 116 units of blood, 16 units more than the goal called for, said Hartley. Blood can be donated if you are 17 through 65 years of age (17-year-olds must have a signed parental consent form.); if you are in good health; and if you weigh at least 110 pounds. Blood cannot be donated if you've had hepatitis within six months; if you have a cold, sore throat or flu; if you have heart disease; if you've taken oral antibiotics within the last two weeks (if injected, with in one month); for six months after major surgery; or if you've had your ears pierced within the last six months. Board openings TwoClackamas Community College Board of Education posts are up for grabs this spring with April 19 set as the tentative date for a special election. The terms of board members Roger Rook and Bonnie Jones expire on,June 30, 1977. Rook, a Milwaukie attorney, has represented Zone 3 of the community college district for seven years. Jones works as head of com munity education for the Estacada schools, and has been on the board since 1974. John Kauffman of the Clackamas County Elections Office said that filing for these two positions will likely open on or before March 3. The deadline for applications would then be March 15 at 5 p.m. New typewriter A memory typewriter has been purchased from IBM in Portland for the advanced typing class (SS 124), according to Sharon Cooper, business instructor. The typewriter costs a little over $5,000 and stores information for later use. As an individual types, the material that appears on the paper goes into the type writer's memory. This process enables one to have the material for later use if another original is needed or if there are changes to be made. Cooper said training time on this type of machine takes 25 hours, according to IBM. Cooper said these typewriters are used at Eastern Airlines in baggage claims and in many legal offices. Class requirements for Advanced Typing are a typing speed of 60 words per minute and a good English background. The memory typewriter may be used as part of that class or on an audit basis. Repairs by women "The Lady Does Repairs" is an evening class that begins Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Clack amas Community College. Pre-registration is not required for this series of four Tuesday night sessions and the classes are free. Participants can attend one or all of the classes. The other dates these sessions will be help are Feb. 15 and 22 and March 1. Each session starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Smucker's Center Coffee Room. The sessions will be led by Dave Fen- stermacher of the CCC maintenance depart ment. Fenstermacher will cover the areas of plumbing, basic electrical work, locks (bur glar-proofing a house) and solving individual problems of class members. Campus crime A gray desktop Cannon calculator was stolen from the math lab in McLoughlin Hall, Jan. 26, after 9 p.m. The calculator is valued at $760. A handmade silver necklace worth $78 was stolen from a jewelry display case in the Community Center building over the weekend of Jan. 21 to 23. Eighteen gallons of gas were siphoned out of a school van parked at Smuckers, Thursday, Jan. 27. Twenty-six parking tickets were handed out during the week. They were mainly for parking in a handicapped zone and parking in the loading zones.
