Entertainment ‘Making Mr. Right’ decent F The Sea Birds My eyes made a serpentine des cent upon the rugged boundary of the land and rose again with the sea birds in the thermals and I was caught up in their cries. A typical bystander of the extemporaneous performance of gulls with their white bellies hidden against the sky while unsuspecting fish beneath flirt with the surface of their doom. You danced the skies for him and sang your morning song. Is this ¡then, why, surrounded with emerald and blue and with white and speckled foam and magestic rocky shores I am drawn to you in you incessant living superimposed upon the quiet lives of crabs and herrings rising and falling as living waves --a gray and white immortality. Design Editor It had all the potential of being a horribly stupid flick. “Making Mr. Right” turned out to be fair ly decent. John Malkovich led the best performance by playing a double role. Malkovich plays both a lovesick android named Ulysses and the android’s creator, Dr. Peters. Ann Magnuson, the co-star of “Making Mr. Right,” plays an advertising consultant named Frankie. Frankie is chosen by the makers of Ulysses to give him public appeal and to teach him some social etiquette. In the course of his lessons, the robot learns that there is more to life than just white jackets and lab tests. He discovers food with color, the power of credit cards, escalators and most of all, love. So where can a movie go when it looks like it fell off the Disney truck? Amazingly enough, it picks itself up and keeps going strong. The land that forms bet ween Frankie and Ulysses is the power behind this film. No, “Making Mr. Right” won’t win any Oscars, but it makes a couple of semi- unknowns look pretty good. This is a good, fun flick to catch on a week night. “Extreme Prejudice” is just the opposite. Here, we take a well-known and celebrated actor, Nick Nolte, and make him look awful. Why this story starred Nick Nolte and not Clint Eastwool will be a nagging question till tt end of time. Who else would st I in a movie about a man with I gun and a bullet proof persona b ty. Nolte plays the bad ass with a star with the same ability as P mentally handicapped slug. li Powers Booth, Noltes’ couni y part, does an excellent job ph I ing the bad guy. Booth’s drunk h sense of humor is the movie’s (< ly redeeming feature. But fi ]c minutes of comic relief can i fi save an hour and a half of go d and gringos. lc “Extreme Prejudice” just is id worth it.
