‘Making Mr. Right’ decent

It had all the potential of being
a horribly stupid flick. “Making
Mr. Right” turned out to be fair
ly decent.
John Malkovich led the best
performance by playing a double
role. Malkovich plays both a
lovesick android named Ulysses
and the android’s creator, Dr.
Peters.
Ann Magnuson, the co-star of
“Making Mr. Right,” plays an
advertising consultant named
Frankie. Frankie is chosen by the
makers of Ulysses to give him
public appeal and to teach him
some social etiquette.
In the course of his lessons, the
robot learns that there is more to
life than just white jackets and
lab tests. He discovers food with
color, the power of credit cards,
escalators and most of all, love.
So where can a movie go when
it looks like it fell off the Disney
truck? Amazingly enough, it
picks itself up and keeps going
strong. The land that forms bet
ween Frankie and Ulysses is the
power behind this film.
No, “Making Mr. Right”
won’t win any Oscars, but it
makes a couple of semi-
unknowns look pretty good. This
is a good, fun flick to catch on a
week night.
“Extreme Prejudice” is just
the opposite. Here, we take a
well-known and celebrated actor,
Nick Nolte, and make him look
awful.

Nolte and not Clint Eastwool
