The College dance group lets Saturday from 10 a.m. [noon at the Martial Arts Biter on McLoughlin Boule- kl, On Wednesday, May 10, the Foreign Language Festi val will feature all kinds of food, fun and entertainment in the Community Center. Activities and entertain ment are planned for the Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP) Senior Citi zen Day in the Community Center on Tuesday, May 16. Performers are needed to volunteer their talents in a marathon act - off for the Kerr Center for handicapped children. This event is scheduled to take place on June 2 from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. in the theatre on Marylhurst Campus. Ms. Linda Barr, originator of the Marathon says that "we don't believe that a mara thon 'act - off' has ever been done in this fashion before. We would like to give local talent an outlet for their abilities." Anyone interested in per forming in or sponsoring an actor in the 'act - off' should call the theatre at 656-2638, ext. 356. The Focus on Women Series at the College contin ues as it presents "Camping Summer is just around.the corner, and what better way to spend it than at a local art-class? There are many exciting learning experiences taking place in and around the Clackamas County area this summer. Treat yourself to a mid-year present. Take a fun class. The College, although close to home, does not offer an ex tensive art program this semester. There is one bright spot, how ever, introduction to Metal Sculpture & Design, offered for eight weeks, beginning on Sat., June 24 at noon. The class meets every Saturday. Introduction to Metal Sculputre teaches the student to cut, braise, and forge metsal into asthetically pleasing designs, with emphasis on personal creativeness. If you have always envisioned yourself as a "Prima Donna" ballerina, now is your big break! The Lake Oswego based Cass- arno Studio of Ballet is offering a beginning ballet class starting June 20. The session continues for five weeks and is held Tuesdays and Thursday nights at 7 p.m. The cost is $30 for ten lessons. For more information call 636-5529. Mt. Hood Community College seems to be the closest place for photography clsses. Photography l(beginning) will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning June 19. The cost is $36 for five weeks, not including film. The class will cover how to take and develop pictures using a 35mm camera. Let's knot! The Hay Loft, a craftshop in Gladstone, teaches the art of macramè, and the tying of threads using a multitude of fibers and beads. The class begins on Monday, June 5, at 7 p.m. The cost is quite reasonable $6 for four weeks of instruction. Also, all stu dents receive a 10 percent discount on macramè supplies For registration or information call 655-0990. An ancient writing technique explored. Marylhurst Education Center in West Linn will offer beginning Calligraphy Monday through Friday, 10 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting June 19, Marylhurst carries a fine reputation for calligraphy instruction. Intermediate classes begin July 5 and the cost per class is $65. For a class schedule call 636-8141. for Fun." The class will prac tice its outdoor skills on a two-day hike May 20 and 21. Pre-registration can be done by calling 656-2631, ext. 232. Thursday, May 11 is the date set for this. College theater department chairman, of the production, "Mrs. Warren's Profession", the iconaclastic play by the astonishing George Bernard Shaw. The play is scheduled to be performed May 18 through 21 at the College's McLough lin Hall Theatre. Evening performances start at 8 p.m. every day but Sunday. A 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinee is on the agenda. "Schizoid Plus" will per form its bizarre antics in the Community Center at noon, Friday, May 12. The per formance is free. "Th is production is going to be excellent; one of the best we have had in several years," said Jack Shields, For ticket information, call the theatre department, 656-2631, ext. 310. Bill Coleman, an Oregon singer/songwriter, will per form at the ASG Coffee House series, Friday, May 19, from 8 to 11 p.m. in the Fire side Lounge. Jazz band sets sights on Seattle, Canada tour School in Stanwood, Washing ton. The band will head a little west for this one, but not too far-Stanwood is right on Puget Sound. The tour will conclude at Victoria, B.C., in Beacon Hill Park. This last performance will be on Friday, the 26th, and is for the Victorian Celebration Society.
