Performers are needed to
volunteer their talents in a
marathon act - off for the
Kerr Center for handicapped
children.
This event is
scheduled to take place on
June 2 from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m.
in the theatre on Marylhurst
Campus.
Ms. Linda Barr, originator
of the Marathon says that
"we don't believe that a mara­
thon 'act - off' has ever been
done in this fashion before.
We would like to give local
talent an outlet for their
abilities."
Anyone interested in per­
forming in or sponsoring an
actor in the 'act - off' should

The
Focus on Women
Series at the College contin­
ues as it presents "Camping
Summer is just around.the corner, and what better way to
spend it than at a local art-class?
There are many exciting learning experiences taking place
in and around the Clackamas County area this summer. Treat
yourself to a mid-year present. Take a fun class.
The College, although close to home, does not offer an ex­
tensive art program this semester. There is one bright spot, how­
ever, introduction to Metal Sculpture & Design, offered for eight
weeks, beginning on Sat., June 24 at noon. The class meets every
Saturday.
Introduction to Metal Sculputre teaches the student to cut,
braise, and forge metsal into asthetically pleasing designs, with
emphasis on personal creativeness.
If you have always envisioned yourself as a "Prima Donna"
ballerina, now is your big break! The Lake Oswego based Cass-
arno Studio of Ballet is offering a beginning ballet class starting
June 20.
The session continues for five weeks and is held Tuesdays and
Thursday nights at 7 p.m. The cost is $30 for ten lessons. For
more information call 636-5529.
Mt. Hood Community College seems to be the closest place
for photography clsses. Photography l(beginning) will be offered
on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning June 19. The cost is $36
for five weeks, not including film.
The class will cover how to take and develop pictures using
a 35mm camera.
Let's knot! The Hay Loft, a craftshop in Gladstone, teaches
the art of macramè, and the tying of threads using a multitude of
fibers and beads.
The class begins on Monday, June 5, at 7 p.m. The cost is
quite reasonable $6 for four weeks of instruction. Also, all stu­
dents receive a 10 percent discount on macramè supplies

An ancient writing technique explored. Marylhurst Education
Center in West Linn will offer beginning Calligraphy Monday
through Friday, 10 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. starting June 19,
Marylhurst carries a fine reputation for calligraphy instruction.
Intermediate classes begin July 5 and the cost per class is $65.
